Job Purpose

Monitor and report on the implementation of SHEQ policies and procedures and the compliance to the regulatory and statutory requirements to ensure the safety and security of employees, machinery and equipment in the plant.

Job Description

  • Monitor and report on the implementation of SHEQ policies and procedures within the relevant section.
  • Conduct physical and safety audits in the allocated area in order to identify any risks and non-compliance.
  • Manage, audit and control the permit to work programs/systems.
  • Participate/ facilitate incident and accident investigation processes ensuring that all the necessary information is gathered and documented.
  • Facilitate/deliver plant safety induction and present "In-House" Statutory training to all employees offshore.
  • Perform all the necessary actions to follow up and close all SHEQ audit findings and incidences.
  • Update, track and monitor statistics/trends of incidences that have been recorded in the incident management system.
  • Conduct research and analysis in order to advise PetroSA on new developments, regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Assist and facilitate in the conducting of Hazard Analysis and Operability studies.
  • Contain expenditure within the budget guidelines to ensure that funds are optimally.
  • Prepare Daily, Monthly, Quarterly and other administrative Reports.

Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12
  • NQF 4 qualification Safety courses
  • SAMTRAC or Nebosh International General Certificate is a prerequisite

Minimum Experience

  • 3 years’ practical experience in chemical related safety environment.

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Relevant ISO standards
  • SHEQ Policies and Procedures.
  • SABS codes and practices
