Trade Controller (Fixed Term Contract - 24 months)

Perform trading control and compliance functions by implementing the risk processes and independently monitor and report on all direct risks the division is exposed to ensure that the potential risks associated with trading are identified and mitigated. 

• Perform portfolio valuation and performance management by calculating and reporting on daily trading exposures, profits/losses on deal transactions, independent fair valuation of trading deals and report on key performance indicators to ensure business is covered for the risk assumed.
• Propose and implement price risk management procedures and controls by monitoring adherence to Front Office trading limits, perform trade confirmations, and track and report amendments to trading deals to ensure compliance.
• Provide inputs into the development of price risk management policies and procedures that are in line with the legislation and make recommendation on changes to ensure compliance to controls, standards and regulations.
• Analyse external global market/ external environment for best practice in terms of trading controls, benchmark on trading performance reporting, and provide recommendation to the business to ensure alignment with the industry.
• Participate and contribute in implementation of departmental projects/ initiatives in accordance with PetroSA’s policies and procedures to ensure project milestones are met, objectives achieved and effective project structures are in place to ensure continuous business improvement/ best practice.
• Participate in containment of expenditure within the budgetary guidelines to ensure that funds are optimally utilised. 
• Provide an advisory service to customers with information relating to Middle Office Department to ensure quality customer service.

Minimum qualifications:

• Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7)/ Bachelor's degree in Business Science/ Accounting (Management & Financial Accounting)

Minimum work experience:

• 5 years' experience in the financial environment in the Middle Office of which 2 years was spent in Trading
• Knowledge of risk controls and compliance
• Exposure to equity derivatives and market risk analysis in an Oil and Gas industry trading environment would be advantageous
